Candidates for mayor and Town Board will meet voters at an open house Thursday at 7 p.m. at Ada Jenkins Center, 212 Gamble St. The event is organized by the Davidson Black Political Caucus.

The Davidson Lands Conservancy and town are trying to persuade the developer of the Summer’s Walk subdivision east of town to sell a big piece of land to preserve what’s being described as an ecologically significant wetlands area. But Forest City Land Group wants a hefty $3.2 million, the Charlotte Observer’s Kathryn Thier reports.

Board delays vote on Pine Rd. project

After a four-hour meeting Monday night, the planning board put off voting on a proposed 34-unit development of luxury homes off Pine Road. Town officials said the move would give the town planners and the developer time to work out unresolved issues, including tree preservation, setbacks and house sizes.

Halloween march Wednesday

Downtown merchants will host their annual Halloween march along Main Street Wednesday, beginning at 5:15 p.m. at Town Hall, 216 S. Main St. Costumed marchers will collect treats from shopkeepers along the street. Organizers ask those walking to Town Hall from the north to use the sidewalk behind Main Street buildings to minimize congestion. […]

Planning begins for N.C. 73 area

About 100 people were at Hopewell Baptist Church on Davidson-Concord Road Thursday night for the first in a planned series of public planning workshops to help prepare for growth in an area east of town along N.C. 73 and Davidson-Concord Road.
