This week in Davidson: Don’t forget to vote in the Tuesday election primary. Events at the college are slowing down for exams, while elementary students will hold their final Walking Wednesday of the school year. And this weekend, the Farmer’s Market is back Saturday, along with a Sunday Concert on the Green, featuring the Band of Oz.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 8-9 a.m., town streets and Davidson Elementary School - Walking Wednesday walk and bike to school day, sponsored by the school and DavidsonWalks citizen committee. 

WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 6:15 p.m., South Main Square, 416 South Main St., on the front porch, next to Seaweed Designs - Lake Norman Women Professional Networking Group invites women to join for refreshments and networking. Details: http://lknwomen.com/

SATURDAY, MAY 10, 8 a.m. to noon, downtown next to Town Hall - Davidson Farmers Market continues its weekly sales, with produce and other goods by area farmers and vendors. Details: www.davidsonfarmersmarket.org

SATURDAY, MAY 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Bailey Road Park, Cornelius – Super adoption fair and humane education event sponsored by Best Friends Animal Society, with Cornelius Parks & Recreation and Friends for Life LKN. Hundreds of pets will be available for adoption, vendors, information booths, and fund-raising for the planned North Mecklenburg Animal Shelter in Cornelius. WEDNESDAY, MAY 14, 7 p.m., Davidson United Methodist Church sanctuary, 233 S. Main St. - Send-off concert for the church choir, which is preparing for a concert tour of French cathedrals. Includes music the choir will be performing in France.

FRIDAY, MAY 16, 9-10:30 p.m., Alvarez College Union - Davidson College Jazz Ensemble farewell concert for graduating seniors. Free.

GALLERY OPENINGS & ART EVENTS

THROUGH MAY 7, Davidson College Belk Visual Arts Center, Griffith and Main streets - 2008 Juried Student Art Exhibition, work by student art majors and non-art majors. Juror Bill Fick of Duke University. Gallery hours: Weekdays, 10-5, Saturday/Sunday, noon to 4.
